Purpose in Action
Our Impact
Making good food is only part of the job. We're also sourcing it with care, making it with less and sharing it with neighbors who need it most, and we report our progress every year.
Our Approach
Four pillars guide our work
We focus where a food company can make the biggest difference: what goes into our food, where it comes from, how it's made and how we show up for our neighbors. Every pillar has clear goals, a senior leader accountable for them and progress we share each year.
Responsible Sourcing
Ingredients and packaging sourced with respect for people, animals and land.
Thriving Communities
Fighting hunger and lifting up the neighborhoods where we live and work.
Pillar 01
Nourishing food for every table
Safety and quality come first, without exception. Every ingredient we accept and every product we ship meets rigorous standards, checked by our own teams and verified by independent auditors.
We're also making our food better for you: trimming sodium and added sugar, adding whole grains and vegetables, and keeping ingredient lists short and familiar, without losing the flavor people count on.
Our commitments
- Certify every plant to globally recognized food safety standards
- Put clear, easy-to-read nutrition facts on the front of every pack
- Grow our range of plant-based, gluten-free and portion-smart choices
Goals and progress
Goal: 100%, every year
Goal: 80% by 2030
Goal: 100% by 2027
Pillar 02
Responsible sourcing, from farm to package
Great food starts long before it reaches our kitchens. We partner with growers and suppliers who share our standards for fair treatment of people, humane care of animals and stewardship of the land.
We're rethinking packaging, too, using less material, more recycled content and designs that are easier to recycle at home.
Our commitments
- Hold every supplier to our Supplier Code of Conduct
- Help farmers adopt practices that protect soil and water
- Make every package recyclable, reusable or compostable
Goals and progress

Pillar 03
A healthier planet for future harvests
Food depends on a stable climate, healthy soil and clean water. We're cutting emissions across our plants and fleet, using water more wisely and keeping waste out of landfills.
Every site has its own targets and a team accountable for meeting them, and we share what works across our network so good ideas spread fast.
Our commitments
- Shift our operations to renewable electricity
- Use less water, especially in water-stressed regions
- Turn food scraps into animal feed, compost and energy
Goals and progress
Goal: 50% by 2030, against a 2020 baseline

Goal: 100% by 2030
Pillar 04
Thriving communities where we live and work
No one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. We donate food and funds to hunger-relief partners and help them reach more families, more efficiently.
Our team members lead the way, volunteering their time and talents in the neighborhoods around our offices and plants.
Our commitments
- Donate safe, surplus food instead of letting it go to waste
- Give every team member paid time off to volunteer
- Support local nonprofits through the Publica Foundation
Goals and progress
Goal: 100 million meals by 2030
Goal: 500,000 hours by 2030
Goal: $50 million by 2030
